Philippe The Original is one of the oldest and best known restaurants in Southern California. Philippe's was established in 1908 by Philippe Mathieu, who claimed the distinction of having created the "French Dipped Sandwich."
Philippe's "French Dipped Sandwich" is the specialty of the house and consists of either beef, roast pork, leg of lamb, turkey or ham served on lightly textured, freshly baked French roll which has been dipped in natural gravy of the roast.
We our also known for our breakfast, deli sandwiches, salad, soups, bake goods, drinks, wine and beer. So check out our menu!

on Yahoo Jan 01, 2010Great food at great prices, and a pretty fast way of getting customers served. Ignore the negative reviews. These people must be on some bad weed. If the place has been around for close to a century, would you think its... (more)

on Citysearch Nov 02, 2009If you're looking for an amazing, cheap French Dip, Philippe's is the place. The originator of the French Dip (yes, you heard me right), Philippe's is perfect right before a Dodger game! But get there early, as the... (more)
